Bird Watching plus special bird weekends
The peace and seclusion of Rock Cottage is reason enough in itself to spend some time here. The only sounds for most of the day are the singing of birds in the woods and gardens and the lowing of cows on the farm down the lane or the call of the farmer to his dogs. Cars are few and far between.
You may spend time bird watching: we have buzzards and ravens nesting near the house, also curlews and ring ouzles not much further away and dippers in the local streams, as well as many more familiar birds which come to feed and nest in the garden.
We can provide guided bird watching expeditions, short or long. Please enquire about the cost.
A bluetit, which had nested in our old water pump, feeds her young.
In the spring we run special Dawn Chorus Weekends, when you may come for a guided early morning walk to hear the Dawn Chorus, returning to the cottage for a delicious breakfast. Non-bird enthusiast partners are very welcome to lie in until breakfast! Ask for details.
